Proposed Title/ Song:  Lana Del Rey - Blue Jeans (MK Dark Blue Dub)

Synopsis of song lyrics: The lyrics are about a girl who is head over heels about a guy. She makes it clear that is going to by his side for the long haul. He knows that she feels that way and beginning to do as he pleases knowing that she’ll still be by his side which leads to him walking out on her and her left heart broken.

                Storyline:  The video will be in correlation but since this is a upbeat version of the song then I will aim to make it as sad as it would be if it was the original slower version, this also allows creative direction for the song. I was thinking that Lana del Rey will be perceived as the innocent doting girlfriend showing how they met etc and then when he start doing whatever   wants then she also does her own thing which then leads him to walk as the relationship is                 going anywhere, leaving her distraught because she didn’t expect things to end up like that so quickly. Ending with her sad in her room reminiscing.

Setting: The video will be set in locations that will be easily recognised by the audience as well as within a homely environment for the scene where the characters are at home.

Length: There will be a slight introductory narrative as well as a little narrative at the end of the song but should not exceed 4minutes.

Format: Digital and edited in Final Cut ProX

Genre: The genre of the song is a mixture of Dance, Pop and House. The mood of the video will be slightly emotional as the video should be as realistic as possible so that the audience can sympathise etc if needs be.

Camerawork: There will be various shots incorporated within the video for instance long shots when gaging the surrounding in scene and or larger groups of people (public) as well as close ups in order to capture emotions.

Length of shots/editing:  The video will have some long takes but  mainly shorts ones due to the beat of the song even though it’s slightly romantic.

Movement and action: There will be a lot of like traveling to destinations etc as well as showing the fact that the guy is going elsewhere doing his own thing

Visual qualities: The video will be shot in colour. The guy will be dressed in blue jeans, white shirt which will be the case in order to link the lyrics to the visuals and the girl will also be dressed in something that is as equally as casual. It will be shot in well-lit areas in order to see the visuals well in the case that we shoot scenes at night then we will ensure that there is no difficulty in seeing what is being shot. The movement of the camera etc will be smooth as opposed to using a handheld camera which will give a sense of realism but is not appropriate for our video. There will be lip-syncing and various intertextual references that will be made obvious enough for the audience to gage although it will be obvious to those who have a good knowledge about other music within this genre.

Handling of narrative: The narrative will be simple as well as rather easy to follow as it is a common storyline within music videos so it will be kept as simplistic as possible in order for the audience to understand. The use of montage editing as its most appropriate even though the storyline will be ‘hinted’ it will be easy to follow.

 Target Audience: The target audience is those who follow Lana Del Ray as the original song was featured in the charts but this remix wasn’t so it’s slightly less known although it has had very good feedback from the audience. They are aged between 17-33 as the song could be considered a ‘party’ tune/anthem therefore it is mainly targeted at party goers

Production methods: Angela will the director and Chloe will be the Co-Director. We will both share the responsibility of the use and accuracy of lighting, props etc.

Equipment: The equipment that we shall be using are cameras, lighting, black and white screen, editing equipment, laptops and hard drives.

Location/Studio: The setting will be in London and should the need of a studio be necessary then will design and set one up in a classroom in college.

People: Lana Del Ray (Victoria Clark), James Dean (Kyle Thompson) and the public will play as the public if need be.

Time: Rehearsal time, also have to consider having to re-do scenes in order to get the best shot.

Budget: Limited funds available. Travel and costumes only.

Rationale: This video is worth making because Lana Del Ray is known for her mellow slow ballads and this is a positive change for her in order to target a new audience. Allowing her to have the opportunity to increasing revenues. The video will show her ‘vulnerability’ in a new prospective as the song is upbeat so hopefully this will engage her new target audience in a new and innovative way.
