My panels
I have decided to go with a 4 panel digipack and here are the finished four panels..
This will be the inside left panel
This will be the the panel where the CD will be placed
The process of making my digipack!
I took some images while I was filming Katie when we were in the woods as I felt that these would be very influencial for the ancilary products.
I have taken these picture with the video camera I was using to film beucase there is a camera function which was helpful as it saved me having to bring along a camera too which could have cause inconvenience, plus it was far more simpler uploading the media from one device.
I have also incorperated two images together using an app that I have on my phone called 'PicsArt', this app allows you to layer images and then adjust the opacity, which helped me create the illusion that katie is walking away.

The process of creating my advert...
So I am now about to begin to start making my advert and I have no idea what font I should use. What I have done is, I have visited dafont.com where there is a huge selection of fonts to choose from, so I have selected the ones I like the most and then asked various people for some feedback on what they think that I should use. This is what my feedback thought...

All about editing...
Here are the screen shots of my editing my video, I have spent hours and hours editing the video and I have been modification after modification. I have enjoyed this process although it has taken me a while...
Editing proved to test my patience, I had been suffering from the mac behaving erratically which was rather annoying, occasionally the mac decided to even delete some of my previous progress. I resolved this situation by consulting an IT department worker in my school, who then updated the computer and it has been better since.
Here is me editing my video, this is the video I created the second time round featuring Katie. I felt that by making the decision to go with Katie was a good one because there was no tension or awkwardness between her and Alex. This really reflected in the video which was a big thumbs up!
I was going to put an establishing shot in the video but then I though that it wasn't really appropriate, as well as that I didn't like the way it looked, maybe that it because personally I don't think that Ware town is very aesthetically pleasing. As you can see here Im coming to the end of editing although I'm sure it's not the end. I will be ganging feedback along the way and hopefully I will produce a video that you will al like!

1st draft feedback
Those who I asked mentioned that they like it but they feel as though something is missing but they don't know what it is, taking this on I felt that the feedback didn't help me much so I went on to ask some people out of school who I felt would give me a more genuine opinion and they came to the conclusion that:
- Editing is too slow
- Not very interesting to watch
- The establishing should should be removed
- Concept is good
- try something with the editing
Taking this into consideration, I will make the modifications accordingly...

1st Draft of the music video
Here is the first draft of the music video which I shot in Ware, using Alex Trufanov and Katie Hoban. From making this draft I was able to gain sopme feedback in order to know how I can imporve it next time.
The feedback that I recieved was very useful and hopefully I can exercise them in my next draft that I will complete. Some of the advice that I was given was to edit the footage to the music and attempt to use an element of repetition due to the song being repeated here and there.

Storyboard (Revisited)
My storyboard has changed and I would like to explain why it is different to the one I had originally and also mention why. The reason as to why I have altered my storyboard is because I felt as though the original idea wasn't as effective. I gain some feedback and the one that stuck out the most was from my teacher mentioning that a song within my genre has a stereotype of being rather repetitive (which it is) therefore I plan to use this to my advantage. My new story is heavily focused on that 'boy meets girl' scenario which is very common but also fits in with the song choice.

Album artwork moodboard
Here is a selection of some of my favourite album covers. We feel these different covers stand out and would attract an audience to look at it. Although they artists vary in genre, popularity and target audience, they all seem to have some conventions that are the same. For example, mostly don't seem to have the artist or a person on the cover at all. Both Drake (nothing was the same) and Gym Glass Heroes (as cruel as children) have the album title linking in with the picture but in a clever way, for example, Gym Class Heroes have a child getting laughed at by over children but he is also joining in however the child is in colour such as blue, green and pink and the children are in yellow, it is also in cartoon and makes it quite lively as it is in the Pop genre.
When deciding on our digipack and album cover, we will take into consideration what real artists have included. For example, as most haven't used an actual person or the artist, we will consider using different people or locations to make our digipack stand out.

Hey guys I have now began the process of filming and editing my coursework I shall be posting screen shots and updates of my progress through out. I will kick off the process by asking my friends if they are willing to participate in the music video and scheduling time where we are all be free in order to start the shooting process.
Possibles layouts for our digipack
I have sketched some possibilities. In order to do this I analysed the cover of the original and then went on to see how I could make a clear link to the video as well as the style that we have chosen.
This layout displays both Lana Del Ray as well as James Dean. I have drawn a flower which is withered because it's alive but it's dying, this makes a link with the title of the album.
With this layout I have used a city landscape on the inside three panels as I feel that is very aesthetically pleasing. Having the landscape there helps set the setting of the video as well at the song. If anything is to change in terms of the location then the photograph will be of the location that we will be using so that there is a link between the two.
This layout also has the landscape with a alndmark in the middle the image may not have been neccasarily photographed like that it has placed on top which can be carried out on photoshop, the artist isn't significantly featured apart from in the smashed photograph. I feel that this emphasises the story of the album as opposed to the song that I am creating the video for.
The inside has the landscape and the outside has three different pictures all being relevant to the album as a whole. Lanaisn't featured on the inside of the digipack as I felt that this was not entirely neccesary because she is featured on the outised. You can find some digipacks where the artist is not featured on it at all although in that case there would be a distinct relationship between it and the album.

Who will be featured in my music video...
In order to choose the person(s) that will be featured within my music video, I had to consider how easy will it be for us to meet up and how available the person(s) are. Originally I had chosen Tauhida Babagana and Alex Trufanov. As I was filming I realised that they didn't look compatible from a visual point of view so then I had to go back to the drawing board and consider another person that would be more suitable for the part in my music video. The reason why Tauhida and Alex didn't work is because you could not see the chemistry between each other this could have been stemmed from the fact that they aren't very acquainted in real life which reflected in the way that they interacted with each other. As a result it reflected on the end product because it wasn't realistic enough. In order to resolve this problem I asked another friend called Katie Hoban to feature in my music video in the hope that this would improve the video as a whole. What helped this time round is that Katie and Alex are friends which reduced the tension and awkwardness. Due to having filmed already this also helped me to have a clear and concise direction as to what I need to film and where for next time.

Getting started..
So I have now reached the point where I am going to start making the video. I haven't always bee all that on planning but I will begin by asking a friend of mine called Tauhida if she would be willing to star in my music video for me, I will also ask Alex Trufanov who is another friend of mine if he wouldn't mind being the male character in the video. Tauhida said yes straight away but Alex needed a bit of persuading about the character that he was about to adopt. I overcame this obstacle by telling him that he's going to be the 'cool' guy which swayed his decision immediately.
We arranged a weekend when we were all free and heading into Ware town by taxi which I paid for since they were doing me a favour. We began shooting at the canal, this is when I realised the awkwardness that they had between each other because I failed to mention in the beginning that they are both my friends but they are not friends with each other and have hardly engaged with each other before so I tried to over come this by creating jokes and making the atmosphere less tense but evidently it didn't work.
We went onto shooting in the local pub where I had asked permission to film there beforehand. It was here where I again noticed that they didn't quite suit and I then felt that I felt this way then they will not be able to convince the audience that they are actually together which ruin the story of the music video. So I decided to call it a day and see whether when I edited it whether I could still use the footage.
As I was editing it was hard for me to believe that they were a couple and there was no 'chemistry' therefore this resulted in me scrapping the idea and starting again although this time I would another girl, preferably one that Alex knew so that he wouldn't feel as uncomfortable in front of the camera.
I asked Katie Hoban if she wouldn't mind helping and she said 'yes'. This also worked in my favour because Katie can drive meaning that we didn't have to rely on a taxi and we had more flexibility in terms of when we went and by being to keep things in the boot helped dramatically.

What has inspired us...
Here are some videos that have inspired us to choose a song within the Dance/House genre. Not only being a personal interest, you find that are so many ways in order to incorporate creativity into the video and the video doesn't always correlate to the words (in some cases there aren't any) which makes them interesting to watch.
I particularly enjoy the fact that this video has a safari as it is unusual in a good way, as when the video begins you have to watch the whole thing as it is not a predictive narrative
This video goes well with the song as it could be considered a 'feel good' song and throughout the video it appears that everyone is doing just that as they happen to be on holiday and care free which might be what Calvin Harris wanted the audience to feel as they watch the video.
This video reminds of a stereotype of Puerto Ricans/Mexican where they are perceived to work extremely hard for little pay. So throughout the video you see the various things that they do in order to get money where you may find that some activities aren't exactly legal etc. despite the amount they work they still find time to incorporate fun into their lives. This to me makes me think that the message of the song is to find time for ourselves to let our hair down despite the masses of things we may have to do.

More music videos by Lana Del Rey
I am now going to show you some other videos that Lana Del Rey has already produced. The reason why I am doing this is to give you a feel of what she does already. The song that I chose is a remix, therefore my video won't cut as slow as hers, bearing that in mind you can get an idea of what the video would be like if it where a few beats faster.
After looking at all these videos. It is evident that Lana's music videos are quite classic and old school as they make the viewer feel as though they have travelled back in time. Therefor when I create my music video I will attempt to make a contemporary version in order to show what it were to belike if Lana shot a video that goes with the trends that occur today.

Myspace..What's that?
What seems like a lifetime ago, Myspace was the social networking site ideal for up and coming musicians. It was basically what Twitter is now, back in the day Myspace used to be the most common platform for young people to create a webpage to express themselves as that was where they felt they had creative freedom. The site allows you to share videos and music on your profile, which is why it is ideal for upcoming musicians to promote themselves in order to gain a bigger fan base and hopefully make it within the industry. Many have been noticed through this platform and Sean Kingston is an example of that. Sean Kingston is now a major artist within the industry with songs that have topped charts internationally, doing collaborations with artist like Nikki Minaj and Justin Beiber who are well respected artists within the industry.
Myspace isn't too well-known anymore and has decreased in popularity rapidly since 2008 because all of a sudden with YouTube's debut we have all turned to YouTube forgetting about MySpace, to some extent I think you could say that MySpace is no longer a channel that people would promote or distribute their music through anymore, it used to have over 100 million global users, its UK audience has halved to 3.3 million monthly visitors in July 2010 (Telegraph). Compared to competitors, Myspace's number feel even more by 2004 when Facebook was launched themselves. Facebook had 500 million registered users and Twitter (launched 2006) already had over 100 million users, however these sites were only competing as social network sites. YouTube is the the site that directly competes with Myspace as a music level. These days YouTube is the most effective form of promotion for new artists.
We can measure the difference in value of YouTube and Myspace by the price that each was sold for to a new corporation: Myspace was sold to Rupert Murdoch in 2005 for $580 million whereas YouTube was sold to Google in 2006 for $1.65 billion. Showing that YouTube is a more beneficial channel of promotion and distribution although this does not mean that they dominate the music industry there also other sets that also have a significant online presence.
Overall I could confidently say that Youtube is now the major 'go to' platform in terms of music artists. Myspace is considered redundant by most web users whereas YouTube has atleast 24 hours of video uploaded and exceeds 2 billion views a day. The viral success of Gangnam style justifies my point on how much of an impact that YouTube has on us.
I found this out from....

Location
Previously I mentioned that I Would like to film in London but due to time constraints and the way that everything has panned out, I will be shooting my video is being shot in Ware which is a 6min drive from my school, getting to Ware will cost £12 as opposed to the travel cost of going to London being £34. Ware is a small town but it has the potential to be a good backdrop for my video. Some elements of the video may be shot in my school in various places on the grounds. I was initially disappointed that shooting in London didn't work out but it seems to have worked in my favour because Ware is less congested than London which enables me to be able to have the opportunity of getting better shots.
My school is closet to the town called Wadesmill and Thunderidge and as you can see on the map that it's a stretch of a road away which is convenient considering that I might need to be going there back forth i order to get shots for the video and the ancillary products.
There is a canal in Ware where I think I might shoot some of the video at. I like the bridge in particular because it looks appealing, although the bridge is an iron bridge it does not drastically bring down the aesthetics that the canal has to offer especially in the summer time.
This is an image of the high street where you can find boutiques, the local supermarkets, various other retail outlets and a selection of eateries which may come in handy when I get round to shooting the video.

Location ideas
London
For the locations in our video, we plan on filming in London. This is because it is a well known location and easy to identify as a background setting. We will be using many well known spots in London such as underground stations for example Liverpool street, we will also be walking down many well known streets such as Camden, Oxford street and Harley street. We will try and get as many landmarks in the background of shots such as the London Eye and Buckingham Palace.
Using such a busy location will be had to film as the streets will be very busy and we will have to avoid capturing footage of strangers, however, this will add to the realism of the video as people will be walking normally and not trying to act.
We thought that London would be more suitable than for instance hertford as we wanted an upbeat, lively feel as it would be most appropiate for our song.
