Narrative

Narrative

Narrative is the combination of the story and plot of the music video. Linear narrative is a narrative which works with the story and plot in the same way, a non-linear narrative doesn’t run in a specific way although it has a beginning, middle and end it may not run in that order and may use different techniques to mix it up such as flashbacks.  In a narrative there will be the setting being established, characters being developed, an engaging plot, a beginning middle and end and a climax.
There are 3 types of narrative:

Linear
Runs in chronological order with events running in order the characters experience them.

Beginning à Middle à End

Equilibrium à Disequilibrium à New equilibrium

Circular
A circular narrative is a narrative that has certain plot points repeated. Flashbacks is very popular in this narrative at it beings at the climax then works on how the point was reached.
